General Tso’s Tofu

Tbh, I don’t think this quite taste like General Tso’s sauce and I’m pretty sure I’ve made General Tso’s chicken that tasted more like General Tso’s but I’m calling it this anyways because everywhere on the internet had a similar recipe so whatever! Or you can think of it as a slightly sweet, spicy, tangy BAKED tofu. nomnomnom

The sauce
1 tbsp seasame oil
2 garlic cloves, minced (the more the better though)
1 tea ground ginger
1 tbsp of brown sugar
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp of hoison sauce
1 tbsp rice vinegar
1 tea garlic chili sauce
4 tbsp water
2 tbsp veggie broth
1 tbsp corn starch mixed with 2 tbsp cold water – whisked

14 ounces of firm tofu, pressed and cubed
1 tbsp seasame oil
2 tbsp corn starch

Toss tofu in seasame oil then in corn starch. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes. Then broil for additional 5 to 10 minutes.

While tofu is baking, on medium heat, brown the minced garlic with the seasame oil. Add in the rest of the ingredients (besides the corn starch and water mixture). Turn the heat to medium low and add in the corn starch + water mixture until desire consistency. When tofu is cooked, toss in sauce and serve with rice and veggies!

While the rest of the internet served it with steamed broccoli, I happened to have cauliflower! I just tossed it in olive oil and put it in the oven while it was on broil to give it a nice roast. No carbs for me so dinner was just veggies and tofu (and sodium)
